Intellectual Property Policy

To realize our Mission to "Enrich the everyday lives of people all over the world", we provide customers with products and services under our motto, “Offering the Unexpected.”
We believe that our product designs, functions, brands, and the unique business models and know-how that support them are our intellectual property and the source of our corporate value.
We establish this Policy to clarify the basic philosophy and principles of conduct regarding the creation, protection, and utilization of intellectual property within the Nitori Group, as well as respect for the intellectual property rights of third parties.

1.Scope of Application

This Policy applies to all Nitori Group companies and to all directors, officers, and employees of such companies (hereinafter referred to as “Directors, Officers and Employees”). The Nitori Group also asks its business partners to understand and respect this Policy.

2.Creation of Intellectual Property

Directors, Officers and Employees shall exercise creativity and strive to create new value. The Nitori Group has established an incentive system under its Employee Invention Regulations to actively encourage the creative activities of Directors, Officers and Employees.

3. Protection and Utilization of Intellectual Property

The Nitori Group appropriately secures intellectual property rights for created intellectual property and strictly protects technical and business know-how. In addition, the Nitori Group utilizes acquired intellectual property in a multifaceted manner, including developing differentiated products, enhancing brand strength, and pioneering new business areas.

4.Respect for Third-Party Intellectual Property Rights

The Nitori Group respects third-party intellectual property rights and conducts thorough investigations as necessary to prevent the risk of unintentional infringement in all business activities. If a problem is discovered, the Nitori Group will promptly take appropriate action.

5.Responsibilities of Directors, Officers and Employees

Directors, Officers and Employees must understand and comply with this Policy and related rules and regulations.
Directors, Officers and Employees must avoid acts that violate or may violate this Policy. If they become aware of an actual violation, a suspected violation, or a potential violation of this Policy, they must immediately report the details appropriately in accordance with prescribed procedures.

6.Awareness-raising and Education on Intellectual Property

The Nitori Group continuously provides training and information to Directors, Officers and Employees to raise awareness regarding intellectual property and ensure the acquisition of appropriate knowledge. In particular, the Nitori Group will strengthen specialized education for employees in divisions deeply involved with intellectual property. Through these efforts, the Nitori Group aims to improve intellectual property literacy across the Group and strives to be a company that continues to create value under its motto, “Offering the Unexpected.”
